Since 1988, Integrity have been at the forefront of hardcore-punk and metal, meshing the two sounds together in a fury of killer riffs, wailing solos, and the shouts and screams of lead vocalist and founding member Dwid Hellion – who also happens to be the only consistent member of the band throughout their twenty-five year career. With lyrical themes based around religion, the supernatural, individualism, and on more recent releases, the occult – Dwid continues to re-invent the bands sound, and their tenth full-length album Suicide Black Snake sees them delving more into cult depths. read more…
Recently began work on a t-shirt design for melodic death metal band Solar Impulse. It’s coming along quite nicely, but I’m sure I’ll be making some revisions. Stay tuned for further updates.
When it comes to metal, hardcore, punk-rock, and the like, there’s never a shortage of angst to be expressed. Some bands do it with gusto, while others just come off sort of gimmicky. For Colorado fiends, Call Of The Void, they present themselves in a manner that would have your parents questioning your listening habits. Their debut album Dragged Down A Dead End Path, which is being released via Relapse Records, is a culmination of crust, punk, grind, and powerviolence – which when combined, offer up twenty-five minutes of relentless riffs, pounding drums, and ill-tempered screams and shouts that are sure to turn your scowl upside down…or better yet, embed it deeper into your face. read more…
“Last week we announced our fourth signing to the Monolithic Records family in the form of angry New York thrashers Thracian. Their fusion of aggressive melodic death metal, thrash and metalcore makes for a veritable riff sandwich. Channelling the pissed off spirit of Jeff Walker and Heartwork era Carcass, Thracian are a one of a kind metalcore band that will blow you away. Gears has been a long time coming and is a huge step up in terms of intensity from their previous release, the excellent Blight.” - The Monolith
Now available via Monolithic Records: Regular EP | Deluxe EP
You may have heard my buddy Vinnie Beere tell tales of gigging and recording with his former band Thracian on the very first episode of the Multitrack Mindset Podcast.
Well, the dudes in Thracian have just unleashed their brand new EP Gears, available through Monolithic Records right here.
I listened to it twice this morning during my commute, and I must say, this thing slays. I enjoyed it so much I decided to post about it right here on the blog. If you’re into metal with a great balance of melody, technicality and groove, check out this EP and support these dudes!

My band Thracian is getting some love via Multitrack Mindset…
After a very long wait, our Gears EP will finally be available March 19th through Monolithic Records, and we couldn’t be more stoked! We are joining the MR family, which includes Brent A Petrie, Towering Filth, and Sockweb.
Thanks go out to The Monolith for creating a record label that focuses purely on the bands and their music. Proud to be apart of it all, and excited to finally get our album out to the public.
My band Thracian will be performing tonight at The Moose Club in Glen Cove, NY in support of RINGWORM! Stoked! (flyer design by Dormition Designs aka: Me)
The Tempest patch I received free via Forged In Iron Records, arrived today. Stoked!
Shameless self-promotion of my band…
“With the way Majesties is laid out, it feels like an uphill battle (but in a good way), with certain tracks propelling the listener closer to the top of the summit – while others so knee-deep in devastating delivery, are sure to plummet the listener back down a few peaks.” read more…
With bitter hearts we carry… the gears will guide us along.
DORMITION’S TOP ALBUMS OF 2012
Last year saw an over abundance of monumental releases from bands that cover a wide spectrum of heavy music. Be it hardcore or metal, 2011 was a great year, and it was quite obvious that 2012 had big shoes to fill. It was without much hesitation, as it only took the first month for the year to get off to an amazing start, with releases from Alcest, Iron Cages, and Woods of Ypres, and even though I kept my ear to the more bigger acts in these genres, I spent most of my time focusing on the underground and all the upcoming bands making their mark on the scene. read more…
